Les versions 9.0 à 10.0 de Veritas Backup Exec (sur Windows) ainsi que les versions spécifiques 9.0.4019 à 9.1.307 (sur NetWare) sont affectées via le Remote Agent for Windows Servers (RAWS). Un attaquant non authentifié disposant d'un accès réseau peut exploiter cette faille pour obtenir des privilèges système élevés en copiant un handle de serveur. Cette attaque est relativement facile à exécuter car elle ne nécessite aucune authentification préalable ni interaction de l'utilisateur.
