La commande `mkvg` dans IBM AIX 5.2 et 5.3 est sujette à une vulnérabilité de chemin de recherche (search path). Un utilisateur local disposant d'un accès shell basique peut obtenir des privilèges administratifs complets en plaçant une version malveillante d'un programme système dans un répertoire parcouru par la commande. Cette exploitation est simple à exécuter et ne nécessite aucune authentification particulière au-delà d'un compte local.
