Les versions 6.3.5 et 6.3.6 de Fetchmail sont affectées par une faille pouvant provoquer le plantage du programme et l'interruption du traitement du courrier. Un attaquant distant peut déclencher cet état de déni de service en envoyant un message spécialement conçu que le logiciel refuse ensuite. Cette attaque est facile à exécuter car elle ne nécessite ni authentification ni interaction de l'utilisateur, seulement un accès réseau au service.

fetchmail 6.3.5 and 6.3.6 before 6.3.6-rc4, when refusing a message delivered via the mda option, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via unknown vectors that trigger a NULL pointer dereference when calling the (1) ferror or (2) fflush functions.
