CA BrightStor ARCserve Backup (version 11.5 et antérieures) est affecté par une faille de corruption de mémoire dans son service Tape Engine. Un attaquant distant peut envoyer une requête spécialement conçue vers le port TCP 6502 pour exécuter du code arbitraire avec des privilèges de niveau système. Cette attaque est facile à réaliser car elle ne nécessite ni authentification ni interaction de l'utilisateur, seulement un accès réseau au port ouvert.
