HP Software Update (versions 4.000.005.007 et antérieures) contient une faille dans son contrôle ActiveX qui permet à un attaquant distant de lire ou de modifier des fichiers arbitraires sur votre système. Un attaquant peut déclencher cela en incitant un utilisateur à visiter une page web malveillante ou à ouvrir un fichier spécialement conçu. Bien que cela nécessite cette interaction spécifique de l'utilisateur pour fonctionner, aucune authentification n'est requise.

The HPRulesEngine.ContentCollection.1 ActiveX Control in RulesEngine.dll for HP Software Update 4.000.005.007 and earlier, including 3.0.8.4, allows remote attackers to (1) overwrite and corrupt arbitrary files via arguments to the SaveToFile method, and possibly (2) access arbitrary files via the LoadDataFromFile method.
