Les anciennes versions du gestionnaire d'affichage GNOME (gdm) fonctionnant avec glib 2.28 permettent aux utilisateurs locaux d'élever leurs privilèges. En manipulant la manière dont le système gère les liens Web HTTP, un attaquant ayant un accès local au shell peut exécuter du code en tant qu'utilisateur gdm sans avoir besoin de mot de passe. Il s'agit d'une exploitation relativement simple pour toute personne déjà connectée au système.

GNOME Display Manager (gdm) before 2.32.2, when glib 2.28 is used, enables execution of a web browser with the uid of the gdm account, which allows local users to gain privileges via vectors involving the x-scheme-handler/http MIME type.
