Le contrôle ActiveX NTR (versions antérieures à 2.0.4.8) est susceptible de subir une corruption de mémoire via plusieurs entrées gérant des URL et des paramètres. Un attaquant distant non authentifié peut exécuter du code arbitraire sur le système cible en incitant un utilisateur à visiter une page malveillante ou à charger un fichier conçu à cet effet. Bien qu'aucun identifiant ne soit requis, l'attaque présente une complexité modérée car elle repose sur l'interaction de l'utilisateur pour déclencher la faille via un navigateur web.

Multiple stack-based buffer overflows in the NTR ActiveX control before 2.0.4.8 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via (1) a long bstrUrl parameter to the StartModule method, (2) a long bstrParams parameter to the Check method, a long bstrUrl parameter to the (3) Download or (4) DownloadModule method during construction of a .ntr pathname, or a long bstrUrl parameter to the (5) Download or (6) DownloadModule method during construction of a URL.
