Les noyaux Linux antérieurs à la version 4.0 utilisant VHOST SCSI sont affectés par une erreur de corruption de mémoire. Un utilisateur au sein d'une machine virtuelle invitée peut déclencher ce problème en envoyant un appel système spécialement conçu, ce qui pourrait provoquer le plantage de l'hôte ou permettre un accès non autorisé à la mémoire de l'hôte. Cette attaque est facile à exécuter et nécessite un accès local depuis le système d'exploitation invité, mais aucun privilège particulier ni authentification n'est requis.

Array index error in the tcm_vhost_make_tpg function in drivers/vhost/scsi.c in the Linux kernel before 4.0 might allow guest OS users to cause a denial of service (memory corruption) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a crafted VHOST_SCSI_SET_ENDPOINT ioctl call. NOTE: the affected function was renamed to vhost_scsi_make_tpg before the vulnerability was announced.
