Les installations de Python (plus précisément les versions 2.7 antérieures à 2.7.12, 3.x antérieures à 3.4.5 et 3.5.x antérieures à 3.5.2) sont affectées par une faille dans la manière dont le langage importe les fichiers zip. Un attaquant distant peut exploiter cette vulnérabilité en fournissant un fichier zip spécialement conçu pour déclencher un dépassement de tampon, ce qui pourrait lui permettre d'exécuter du code arbitraire ou de provoquer le plantage du système. Cette attaque est relativement facile à exécuter car elle ne nécessite ni authentification, ni interaction de l'utilisateur, et peut être réalisée via le réseau.
